Jackson House Hosts Final Over the Edge Fundraiser

Jackson House hosted its fourth and final Over the Edge fundraiser, where 82 individuals rappelled down the former Bank of America building on Central Avenue, each raising at least $1,000 for the nonprofit.

Assistant director Tammy Jones noted that Friday's "VIP rappel" event featured community leaders, including the police and fire departments, mayor Pat McCabe, and others. Saturday's event welcomed the rest of the donors to rappel down the building, with a spectator section, a DJ, and performances from musicians and dancers.

"It was a little last minute idea I had to celebrate Jackson House being 50 years old this year,"

Jones said, referring to the replacement of Over the Edge with an annual soup cook-off, honoring the Jackson House's original identity as a soup kitchen. The first soup cook-off was held alongside Over the Edge this year, with 15 teams competing Friday morning.
