The Bowling Green State University Democracy and Public Policy Research Network released a poll last month surveying 800 registered Ohio voters. The results show a tight race between former Senator Sherrod Brown and current Senator Jon Husted for Ohio’s U.S. Senate seat.
In the gubernatorial race, Republican Vivek Ramaswamy holds a narrow lead over former Director of the Ohio Department of Health Amy Acton and former U.S. official Ryan, who has not yet declared candidacy. All the results lie within the poll’s 4.5% margin of error.
“Ohio will certainly be on many people’s minds this time next year,” said Robert Alexander, BGSU political science professor and poll conductor.
The poll also highlights a decline in President Donald Trump’s approval rating among Ohio voters, which is typical for a president’s party during midterm elections.
“That might explain a little bit of what we’re seeing here,” Alexander commented.
Economic concerns remain a key issue for Ohioans.
“A year ago, this was the big question: Who’s going to bring down the price of eggs?” Alexander noted.
This poll indicates Ohio’s political landscape remains competitive, with voter focus on economic challenges and shifting approval ratings influencing upcoming elections.
