Millions of people along Australia's east coast are preparing for potentially severe storms and heavy rain this weekend, following an intense start to the storm season.
Late thunderstorms and strong winds may affect Sydney on both Friday and Saturday evenings, after warm daytime temperatures.
Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Jonathon Howe said, "Much of south eastern Australia is set for a number of ‘unsettled days’ over Friday and Saturday due to a developing cold front."
Mr Howe noted, "For these areas, we could see damaging wind gusts with thunderstorms as we head into Saturday."
Heavy rainfall, strong winds, and large hail may impact areas from Wollongong to Sydney, Newcastle, the Hunter Region, Mid North Coast, and parts of inland Queensland.
Australians along the east coast should prepare for several days of unstable weather including storms, damaging winds, and heavy rain as a cold front moves through.
This weekend's cold front will bring widespread storms and harsh weather, demanding vigilance and preparation across southeastern Australia.
