Eastern Kentucky University's (EKU) Combs building experienced water damage due to a broken water coil within the mechanical penthouse HVAC system.

According to EKU Chief Campus Operations Officer Bryan Makinen, the incident occurred on November 3, 2025, and was discovered by the EKU Police Department during their campus patrols.

The water damage was primarily confined to the fourth floor, with minor effects on other floors. Cleanup efforts are ongoing and will continue throughout the week, followed by restoration of damaged carpets and ceilings.

No official statement has been made on the cause of the break.
