Lawrence Ookeditse to Challenge Mephato Reatile for Presidency
Lawrence Ookeditse, secretary-general of the Botswana Patriotic Front (BPF), has announced his bid for presidency, which will pit him against current party president Mephato Reatile.
"Matters have come to a point where we firmly believe that we need a strategic refocus for the state that the party needs to survive. I have decided to run against a person that I deeply respect,"
Ookeditse expressed his reluctance to challenge Reatile, stating that it "breaks his heart" to do so. Despite this, he emphasized the need for a strategic refocus to ensure the party's survival.
He reassured members that regardless of the outcome of the elective congress on November 1 in Serowe, Reatile will retain their respect. If Ookeditse wins, he plans to continue engaging with Reatile to move the party forward.
