Efforts to Block Zohran Mamdani's Campaign
Billionaires have invested over $22 million in campaigns to defeat Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani, a New York State Assemblyman running for New York City mayor.
Despite strong opposition, Mamdani remains ahead in the race, surpassing Andrew Cuomo and Curtis Sliwa. His campaign has attracted significant attention and funding from American billionaires, including Michael Bloomberg, Bill Ackman, and Richard Kurtz.
“Billionaires like Bill Ackman and Ronald Lauder have poured millions of dollars into this race because they say we pose an existential threat,” Mamdani told supporters. “I am here to admit something, they are right.”
