Canadian Lobbyists' Conflict of Interest
A recent report by FMinus reveals a significant conflict of interest in Canadian lobbying, where environmental groups and major polluters are represented by the same lobbyists.
Major Canadian environmental organizations and civil society groups are using lobbyists who also represent big polluters, potentially hindering the nation's climate action.
“As the climate crisis gets worse for Canadians, there’s a hidden cause,”
said James Browning, founder and executive director of FMinus, in an interview with DeSmog.
The report, prepared in conjunction with Environmental Defence and re•generation, highlights the issue of lobbyists representing both environmental groups and major polluters.
