After two decades as a trusted weather presenter for Nine Network, Livinia Nixon is stepping away from her nightly broadcasts to embrace a new phase in her career and personal life. The beloved on-air personality first captured audiences’ hearts during her early days with "Hey Hey, It’s Saturday."
Nixon announced she will sign off at the end of the month, marking 20 years in the role. Reflecting on her long tenure, she shared with humor:
“I’ve been on air for more of my life than I’ve not,”
She added that she looks forward to “a breather” after many years of continuous broadcasting.
Although leaving her weather duties, Nixon will remain part of the Nine family, continuing to appear on the travel programs Getaway and Postcards.
The decision to step back was driven by her wish to spend more time with her family. Her youngest son, Ted, will soon start high school, joining his older brother Henry.
“Presenting the weather has shaped my life and career. I owe this role everything, but this is the right decision for me,”
She said her sons supported the change, telling her they were excited to have more time together.
Among her memorable on-air experiences was a live weather report from Healesville Sanctuary, where a green tree python coiled around her neck and tried to slither into her jacket — a moment she recalls with laughter:
“I’d never read the weather as quickly in my life.”
Livinia Nixon ends a remarkable 20-year run as Nine’s weather presenter to prioritize family life while continuing her passion for travel and television with Getaway and Postcards.
