Nico O'Reilly praised Manchester City's strong response following their defeat to Aston Villa, as they recovered to win 3-1 against Bournemouth in the Premier League. The nine-match unbeaten streak across all competitions ended at Villa Park, but City returned to winning form at the Etihad Stadium with a brace from Erling Haaland and a smart finish from O'Reilly. This win followed their midweek Carabao Cup victory over Swansea.
The victory lifted City to second place in the Premier League, six points behind league leaders Arsenal.
"Everyone’s happy to get the three points and to get the win. So yeah I thought we bounced back well. We knew that before the game coming into it. We knew they were going to do that [high line]. We knew there were spaces there. I think we exploited them well. We took our chances, we had a few more chances we could have taken but yeah I thought we used that space well."
O'Reilly also reflected on his goal, expressing growing comfort within the first team. He looks forward to upcoming challenges against Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool.
