Anthony Hopkins Writes Heartfelt Apology to Estranged Daughter Abigail in New Memoir

In his new memoir We Did It, Kid, acclaimed actor Anthony Hopkins opens up about his complicated relationship with his estranged daughter, Abigail Hopkins. Through deeply personal reflections, the 87-year-old Academy Award winner expresses a sincere desire for reconciliation after years of distance.

Hopkins, who shares Abigail with his first wife, Petronella Barker, from whom he separated in 1972, reveals that a recent attempt at reconnection—initiated by his current wife, Stella Arroyave—was met with silence.

"My wife, Stella, sent an invitation [to Abigail] to come and see us," Hopkins said in an interview published on October 25. "I wish her well, but I'm not going to waste blood over that. If you want to waste your life being in resentment, fine, go ahead."

Despite those firm words, Hopkins adopts a more hopeful tone in his memoir, published on November 4. His message to Abigail is one of compassion and openness.

"I hope my daughter knows that my door is always open to her. I want her to be well and happy," he writes.

By sharing these words, Hopkins invites a new understanding of forgiveness and family healing, offering a quiet appeal for connection with his daughter.
