Manchester United remain unbeaten in their last four Premier League games but were held to a draw against Nottingham Forest this weekend as Benjamin Sesko struggled to make an impact.
Since his £74 million move from RB Leipzig, the Slovenian striker has scored two goals and provided one assist in ten top-flight appearances. Ruben Amorim is gradually integrating the 22-year-old into the team.
Sesko seemed to be improving before the international break, scoring against Brentford and Sunderland, yet he found it difficult against Nottingham Forest.
"I'm no further forward with him. The jury is out," said former Manchester United defender Gary Neville to NBC Sports after the draw with Forest.
"He's well off it compared to the other summer signings that Man United made up front in [Matheus] Cunha and [Bryan] Mbeumo.
"He looks awkward, he had a couple of really good opportunities in the first half - when balls got played over the top and his touch wasn't quite right. For £80 million, you can say he's young, or has a lot of potential and he's only just settling in, but you still want to see a bit more."
Speaking on The Rest is Football podcast, Gary Lineker agreed with Neville's views, noting that Cunha and Mbeumo have adapted well to Amorim's style, while Sesko has only displayed potential so far.
"I would say they are slightly better. I think they are moving in the right direction," Lineker commented.
Summary: Benjamin Sesko’s integration into Manchester United is progressing slower than other summer signings, with experts agreeing he has shown promise but needs more time to settle fully.
