Florian Wirtz has had a slow beginning to his Liverpool career, but Gary Lineker remains confident the German international will succeed at Anfield.
Gary Lineker highlighted that Wirtz "is really good at football" and emphasized the player has shown enough to suggest he will prove his value at Liverpool.
The Reds initiated their summer transfer window by signing Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen for a then-British record fee of £116 million. Despite the high expectations, Wirtz has yet to score or assist in the Premier League. He was even named on the bench during Liverpool's recent 2-0 win against Aston Villa.
The 22-year-old is under growing pressure, but both Lineker and Micah Richards believe Wirtz has the talent to thrive.
"At the moment he is not up to speed for the Premier League, but he spent £100m on him, but 100% it was the right decision that he made," said Richards on the Rest is Football podcast.
Richards also commented that Liverpool have lost many key players but will return to their previous form:
"Liverpool now go back to what they did last season."
Despite a challenging start and high transfer cost, experts believe Florian Wirtz possesses the exceptional talent to become a Liverpool success.
