Kevin Durant Predicts Cooper Flagg Will Become One of the Best All-Time

Houston Rockets star Kevin Durant has seen enough of rookie sensation Cooper Flagg to make a confident prediction — the young Mavericks forward is destined for greatness. Despite Dallas struggling early in the season with a 2–5 record following a 110–102 loss to Houston, Durant remains impressed by Flagg’s potential.

“I think that he’s going to be a hell of a player,” Durant told DallasHoopsJournal.com. “I think that he’s going to be such a nightmare… that… he’ll be considered one of the best of all time.”

At just 18 years old, Flagg has already displayed signs of elite two-way capability. Standing 6’9”, he has been pushed into a point guard role under coach Jason Kidd, posting averages of 13.8 points, 6.5 rebounds, and three assists per game. While those numbers may seem modest, Durant insists they don’t capture the full picture of the rookie’s development.

“I think that you’re going from in college playing four and five to playing point guard, two guard,” Durant said. “That’s going to be an adjustment period for everybody. I hate to inject myself into his situation, but I came from college playing four or five and entered the league as a two.”

Author’s Summary

Kevin Durant praised rookie Cooper Flagg’s adaptability and predicted the Mavericks’ 18-year-old will ultimately become one of basketball’s all-time greats despite a challenging start.
