All’s Fair on Disney+ review: Kim Kardashian’s stilted new legal drama is a proper atrocity

All’s Fair on Disney+: Kim Kardashian’s misguided legal drama

Ryan Murphy, Hollywood’s long-standing specialist in questionable taste, has produced what may be one of the worst shows Disney+ has ever released. Kim Kardashian, always known for her unconventional choices, remains committed to doing things her own way.

The unconventional star

In 2014, after her lavish wedding to Kanye West in Florence, Kardashian surprised many by flying to Ireland for a honeymoon that reportedly included a stay in Castlemartyr and a visit to Portlaoise, where the couple attended a local screening of X-Men: Days of Future Past. The trip to the Irish Midlands on a random weekday illustrated her trademark unpredictability.

A misguided new role

Now divorced and still following her own playbook, Kardashian stars in the new legal series All’s Fair, which the review describes as a creative disaster. Despite her massive popularity, the project stands out as one of Disney+’s biggest missteps.

"All’s Fair is a proper atrocity exhibition and one of the worst things Disney+ has ever foisted upon its subscribers."

A-list confusion

Kardashian’s fame has nonetheless attracted a highly acclaimed cast, featuring Naomi Watts and Glenn Close. Watts, the review notes, hasn’t appeared this perplexed since acting opposite a giant gorilla in Peter Jackson’s King Kong. Glenn Close, too, appears visibly bewildered by the tone and direction of the show.

Author’s summary: A lavishly cast but painfully awkward legal series, All’s Fair turns Kim Kardashian’s star power into a spectacle of confusion and creative collapse.
