Stars like Alex Bregman, Pete Alonso, and Cody Bellinger join Kyle Tucker, Dylan Cease, and Bo Bichette in a loaded 2025–26 MLB free agent class featuring impactful hitters and pitchers.
Kyle Tucker’s back-to-back injury-marred seasons may affect his market value. However, he posted career-best numbers during his half season in 2024 and started 2025 strongly before suffering a hand injury later revealed as a fracture. Along with a fractured shin in 2024, these seem to be unusual injuries. Over the previous four years, Tucker played 505 of a possible 546 games. Despite excellent basestealing skills, his speed has declined, resulting in below-average outfield range. He could transition well to first base in a few years.
Prediction: nine years, $360 million
Dylan Cease’s ERA fluctuates, but his underlying statistics have remained steady over five years, aside from a slight dip in velocity in 2023. In his walk year with the Padres, he went 8-12 with a 4.55 ERA, but maintained a 30% strikeout rate, a 3.46 xERA, and a 3.58 SIERA. Durability is a major plus; Cease has not missed a start since debuting in mid-2019.
"It’s still entirely possible that he has a year or two of Cy Young contention in his future."
This free agent class presents strong contenders capable of making significant impacts with their bats and arms.
