Free Transit for Veterans on Remembrance Day
In recognition of their service and sacrifice, TransLink will offer free transit to veterans and active military personnel on Remembrance Day, Tuesday, November 11.
Eligible Customers
- Veterans
- Active members of the Canadian Armed Forces
- Police and fire personnel
- Canadian Coast Guard members
- Officers from the Department of Fisheries and Oceans
- BC Ambulance Service personnel
These individuals can access free transit by presenting their badge, military ID, Veteran’s Service Card, or by appearing in uniform.
Transit Access Details
- Veterans and eligible riders do not need to tap their Compass Card for buses and HandyDART trips.
- Accessible fare gates at SkyTrain and SeaBus stations will remain open from 8 a.m. on Remembrance Day.
- Holiday fares apply for other customers on November 11.
Additional Recognitions
TransLink also honours National Indigenous Veterans Day on Saturday, November 8, recognizing the sacrifices of Indigenous veterans and their contributions to global peace and security.
The Royal Canadian Legion will be distributing poppies by donation at various transit hubs in Metro Vancouver.
Customers are encouraged to use transit to attend Remembrance Day ceremonies throughout the region.
