The Weather Team has declared a First Alert Weather Day for Thursday as snow is expected to move through southcentral Alaska. A low-pressure system in the Gulf of Alaska is bringing wet conditions to southeast Alaska and will deliver moisture to southcentral, triggering a November snowfall.
Snowfall will begin around midday and persist into the evening. The heaviest snow is predicted for higher elevations and some coastal areas. Anchorage may see between 1 and 4 inches of snow, with some hillside locations possibly accumulating up to 6 inches. Coastal southcentral temperatures are expected to rise above freezing, causing the precipitation to change to rain.
The storm should largely conclude by Friday.
