Miami Heat center Bam Adebayo left Wednesday’s game against the Denver Nuggets after suffering a left foot injury. The 28-year-old was listed as questionable to return but eventually did not come back to the court. At that point, Miami was trailing 122–112 in the fourth quarter.
According to Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald, Adebayo appeared to sustain the injury just eight minutes into the match and was in visible pain before being taken out. Chiang shared on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter:
“Bam Adebayo not on the court for the start of the second half. Kel'el Ware starting in Adebayo's place.”
His absence was strongly felt on both ends of the floor, as the Heat struggled against Denver’s efficient offense and disciplined defense.
Supporters expressed their frustration and concern over the situation:
“Obviously Bam going down was unexpected but still competing vs the #1 offense and a top 5 defense is still so much to build on. Last year’s team would’ve lost by 35. There shouldn’t ever be a rebound disparity of 20 rebounds; that deflating and gives the other team more attempts.”
“Was always gonna be tough with Bam. Made impossible once he didn’t come back in. Proud of the effort the group showed. Hopefully Nikola Jokic can give Niko some advice while he’s there. Hopefully Bam’s injury isn’t too bad, but the lack of an update worries me.”
Prior to getting hurt, Adebayo was averaging 22.4 points, 9.1 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game while shooting 46 percent from the field, serving as a key pillar in Miami’s frontcourt performance this season.
Bam Adebayo’s sudden foot injury against Denver left Miami short-handed and fans anxious, casting uncertainty over his availability for upcoming Heat games.
