Kalispell Angler Terry Krogstad Wins Fall Mack Days
The 2025 Fall Mack Days Fishing Event on Flathead Lake, sponsored by the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes, concluded Sunday with a total of 19,144 lake trout entries, surpassing last year’s total of 18,414.
A total of 335 anglers participated, with 116 submitting one or more lake trout catches. From Monday to Thursday, the total entries were 5,369, and from Friday to Sunday, 13,775, both exceeding the 2024 counts of 3,811 and 14,603 respectively.
Jens Gran of Polson won all three of the Mack Days Bucket of Fish contests, weighing a combined 93.65 pounds of lake trout.
Top Angler Results
- Terry Krogstad of Kalispell took first place with 1,206 entries and a 57.83 average over 18 days.
- David Myers of Riverton, Wyoming, finished second with 986 entries and a 51.56 average.
- Larry Ashwell of Missoula placed third with 1,007 entries at a 49.5 average.
- Other top finishers included Julie Perkins (Kalispell), Jack Kirkland (Lolo), Patrick Casey (Townsend), Devon Burkowski (Kalispell), Richard Kreis (Huson), Lyndon Lee (Canada), and Mike Benson (Lonepine).
"The event drew a strong turnout and impressive catches, highlighting the vitality of Flathead Lake’s fishery," reported the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes Fisheries Department.
Judging is based on the best 18 days of entries for each angler.
