Academy Players Prepare for Remembrance Sunday

Wolves Academy players have been honoring those who served, ahead of Remembrance Sunday, by engaging in several meaningful activities connected to the club's history and remembrance traditions.

Tree Planting Ceremony at Compton Park

Last Friday, the club’s under-12 players planted a tree at Compton Park in memory of Wolves players who served in both World Wars. Vicar Anne Martin attended the event, where the children read aloud the names of the veterans and a poem expressing their thoughts on Remembrance.

Reflection and Commemorative Activities

The tree planting concluded a week full of events centered on Remembrance. The youngsters also visited the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire, participated in a Wolves Elders session, and organized a cake sale for Compton Park players and staff to support the Wolves Foundation.

Educational Initiative and Club Values

This project aligns with the Premier League’s annual Christmas Day truce initiative and gives young players a chance to learn about history during this significant time of year.

Natalie Deakin, head of education at Wolves Academy, said: “It's really important that we're looking after them as potential players, but also nice, super rounded people. That's really important to us and the boys have worked really hard on this project.”

The academy’s approach fosters both athletic development and social awareness among its young players.
