During a pre-pageant event in Thailand, a heated confrontation erupted between Miss Mexico Fátima Bosch and pageant executive Nawat Itsaragrisil. The incident prompted several Miss Universe contestants to leave the event in protest.
According to witnesses, the tension began when Bosch refused the executive’s request for all contestants to promote the host country on their social media. Itsaragrisil reportedly warned:
“You are in Thailand. You are in a game.”
The situation escalated when the executive scolded Bosch for declining to participate in a Thailand-themed photo shoot. He demanded that she confirm her willingness to promote the country, adding pressure even as Bosch tried to explain her stance.
“I heard you’re not going to support everything about Thailand,”
he said before accusing her of following Miss Mexico’s directors rather than his local Miss Universe team.
When he insulted her as a “dummy” and ordered her to sit down, Bosch stood her ground, replying:
“Because I have a voice. You’re not respecting me as a woman.”
The confrontation sparked outrage among other contestants, several of whom shouted in Bosch’s defense as Itsaragrisil called for security to remove her from the room. While leaving, Bosch turned to him and said:
“As women, you need to show respect for us.”
