The Flint Institute of Arts (FIA) will once again celebrate Black filmmakers as the African American Film Series enters its 11th year. Partnering with Communities First, Inc., the FIA continues its effort to highlight the creativity, resilience, and storytelling excellence of African American artists.
The free community series will take place monthly from November 2025 through February 2026 at the FIA, located at 1120 E. Each evening will start at 5:30 p.m. with a complimentary dinner, live music, and gallery access, followed by a 6:45 p.m. film screening and a post-film discussion featuring community leaders and experts.
“These films will spark conversations that strengthen understanding and connection across our community,” said Essence Wilson, Chief Strategy Officer of Communities First, Inc. “It’s a joy to see neighbors, families, and friends come together to celebrate culture, creativity, and the many voices that make our stories so meaningful.”
This 11th annual film series at the Flint Institute of Arts unites the community through African American cinema that celebrates identity, resilience, and cultural storytelling.
