Citizens are invited to pay their respects to those who served and continue to serve Canada during war and peace. Brantford is among the communities across the country honoring these sacrifices.
“We encourage members of our community to join us on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, as we remember, with deep respect and immense gratitude, the remarkable sacrifices of others,” said Sharon Sayles, communications advisor for the City of Brantford.
Cadets will hold a vigil from 6 p.m. to midnight on Monday, continuing at 7 a.m. the next day. The Brant War Memorial will remain illuminated throughout the night.
On Tuesday, a walking march including veterans, active service members, first responders, dignitaries, and cadets will depart from Harmony Square and proceed along Dalhousie Street to the Brant War Memorial.
The Civic Service of Remembrance begins at 10:50 a.m., featuring a fly-past by a B-25 Mitchell bomber and an FF46 Firefly aircraft from the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum in Hamilton, weather permitting.
A St. John’s College student, winner of a local speech-writing contest, will deliver a speech titled The Role of Canadian Soldiers in War One.
The ceremony will also honor the names of one First World War veteran and 22 Second World War veterans identified as missing from the Brant War Memorial earlier this year.
