The FIFA U-17 World Cup 2025 in Qatar has brought together global leaders and football industry figures at the Aspire Zone to witness one of the world's top youth tournaments. Among the notable attendees was Annalena Baerbock, President of the 80th Session of the UN General Assembly, who is in Doha for the Second World Summit for Social Development held from November 4 to 6.
During her visit, Baerbock met with the tournament’s Local Organising Committee and emphasized the unifying force of sports in promoting fairness and connection among nations.
“The global community has convened in Qatar to highlight the importance of social justice in building stronger societies. The same applies to sports – you only win when you play as one team.”
Baerbock, who previously served as Germany’s Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs from December 2021 until May 2025, reiterated that sports can embody the same values that strengthen global cooperation and social inclusion.
The FIFA U-17 World Cup 2025 in Qatar underscores how teamwork in sports mirrors collective efforts toward social justice and global solidarity.
