One Battle After Another in the Context of the Present Day

I was prompted to watch One Battle After Another after listening to a New York Times interview with Sean Penn.

Unlike my friend Gregory Maskarinec, I still listen to Ezra Klein podcasts, where I heard the David Marchese interview with Penn.

Penn says that his performance was studied and intentional, unlike a number of his previous performances.

I tend to think of Penn as Jeff Spicoli in Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982), but Lockjaw is a comic performance, a send-up of the white supremacist military man.

Author's note: Exploring Penn's performance in One Battle After Another.
