Election Roundup: Lumberton City Council

Lumberton City Council members Melissa Robinson, John Carroll, John Cantey, and Owen Thomas were reelected on Tuesday, each winning by a wide margin as the only name on the ballot.

John Cantey, the senior member of the council, won a sixth term with 202 votes, more than 88% of the total, despite two write-in campaigns by Keith Copeland and Darryl Genus, which combined for 27 votes.

“First and foremost, I’d like to thank God, all of our church families, civic groups and especially the residents of Precinct 5 for entrusting me to a sixth term as their representative,”
