Intense negotiations at the Assemblée Nationale on Friday failed to produce a consensus on proposals to tax France's ultra-wealthy.
Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu announced further discussions with parliamentary groups after the Socialists' ultimatum to implement the Zucman tax on large fortunes was rejected by MPs.
The tax was rejected, while a new round of negotiations postponed any immediate fall of the government.
