Fatal Crash on I-787 near Exit 3
A fatal crash occurred near Exit 3 on Sunday, October 12, after a driver allegedly drove on I-787 in the wrong direction, according to the New York State Police (NYSP).
The driver was heading southbound in the northbound lanes when the vehicle collided with another vehicle traveling north. The driver of the northbound vehicle was declared dead at the scene.
The driver who was allegedly driving in the wrong direction was taken to Albany Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, according to NYSP.
NYSP confirmed that this is one of two serious crashes they are investigating that occurred on Sunday morning. All northbound lanes on I-787 between I-87 (Thruway) and Exit 3 are closed and will remain so until 12 p.m.
