Kennesaw State assistant professor, lab open doors to hands-on innovation in chemistry
Kennesaw State University assistant professor Madalynn Marshall considers herself lucky to have found a drive and curiosity for solid-state chemistry early in her college career.
Marshall's interest in chemistry was sparked by a renowned and enthusiastic professor, and she continued to receive mentorship from scientists she met along the way.
“During my undergraduate years at Iowa State, I was able to gain some research experience with Dr. Gordon Miller, a leader in solid-state chemistry,” Marshall said. “Solid-state has its own unique corner in chemistry, the idea of exploring magnetism in rare earths and transition metals was an exciting opportunity as an undergraduate.
Later, during her Ph.D., Marshall realized how incredible these materials are and how fortunate she is to work alongside many amazing researchers.
