Gardai are on the verge of launching a murder investigation after a man's body was found in North Cork.
A blunt instrument is suspected to have been used in the assault. The body was discovered by horrified locals, and emergency services rushed to the scene, but unfortunately, the man was declared dead.
The body remained at the scene for a forensic examination by the Garda Technical Bureau. State Pathologist Dr Margot Bolster was requested to attend the scene before the body was removed for a post mortem examination.

Dozens of tributes have poured out online for the victim, Barry Daly, who was described by friends as a "gentleman" who didn't deserve what happened to him.
