Alter Steel Selects Danieli for Green Steel Mill in Australia
Alter Steel has chosen Danieli to provide technology and equipment for its new green steelmaking facility in Pinkenba, Australia.
The project will feature the Digimelter and Q-One power feeder for sustainable electric steelmaking, as well as Danieli MIDA Quality Long Product (QLP) technology.
- Production capacity: 500kt per year of reinforcing bar, wirerod, hot-rolled mesh, spooled coil and bar.
- Expected CO₂ emissions: 0.37t per ton of steel, an 80% reduction compared to traditional blast furnaces.
- The MIDA QLP process eliminates reheating, reducing energy consumption by up to 75% compared to conventional mills.
