A major milestone has been achieved for an affordable housing complex in Fort Wayne, with the completion of an $8.5 million renovation project.
The project, undertaken by the Glick Company, involved updating over 200 apartments designed for seniors and individuals with disabilities at the Edsall House on Berry Street.
“It’s great that the state of Indiana has committed to affordable housing. We’d like to see that commitment grow in the years to come because we know the need for affordable housing is going to continue to grow.”
The project was crucial, as Allen County risks losing over 1,000 subsidized homes in the next decade due to expiring restrictions that made them affordable for low-income families.
The renovation was made possible by support from state and federal housing tax credits, according to David Barrett, president and CEO of the Glick Company.
