Missouri Cold Weather Rule Starts Nov. 1
The Missouri Cold Weather Rule begins on November 1, protecting customers against winter utility shutoffs.
The rule, which applies to natural gas and electric investor-owned utilities, will remain in effect through March 31, 2026.

- Covers natural gas and electric investor-owned utilities under Missouri Public Service Commission (PSC) jurisdiction
- Excludes municipal utilities, cooperatives, and propane delivery by truck
Disconnection of heat-related service is now prohibited on any day temperatures are predicted to drop below 32 degrees during the following 72-hour period.
A new state law passed this year strengthens the rule to protect customers during extreme cold weather.
