Hong Kong Tennis Open: Last China Players Exit
China's last two representatives, Zhang Shuai and Wang Yafan, lost in straight sets at the Prudential Hong Kong Tennis Open on Wednesday.
Top seed Belinda Bencic continued her climb into the world top 10, having been ranked "913 or something" a year ago. Bencic defeated Wang Yafan 6-2, 6-2 in one hour and 16 minutes.
- Zhang Shuai lost to Russia's Anna Kalinskaya 6-1, 6-1.
- Bencic's victory marks her sixth win in a row, following her Japan Open win.
"I felt good on the court," Bencic said. "I tried to play aggressively, tried to play my game, and it worked out well.
