Nunavut's Next Legislative Assembly
Nunavut's seventh legislative assembly will have many new faces, with first-time legislators representing the majority of the territory's 22 ridings after the October 27 territorial election.
Voter turnout was 40.8 per cent. Some notable election results include:
- Daniel Qavvik was acclaimed in Hudson Bay.
- David Joanasie held his uncontested seat in South Baffin.
- In Aggu, a judicial recount is necessary due to Joanna Quassa's narrow win of 106 to 103 over Erasmus Ivvalu.
- John Main won in Arviat North-Whale Cove with 229 votes to Tony Uluadluak's 173.
- Jamie Kablutsiak won in Arviat South with 255 votes to Alana Kuksuk's 120, with a voter turnout of 53 per cent.
