The former mayor of Huntingdon, independent councillor Steve McAdam, has been cleared of any wrongdoing after labeling an upcoming drag show as "disgusting filth".
In since-deleted comments posted on Facebook in July, Councillor McAdam accused the Commemoration Hall in Huntingdon of "diving to the bottom of the barrel".
The mayor of Huntingdon's consort was referred to Huntingdonshire District Council for investigation after several complaints were received.
Cllr McAdam's comments were described as "inflammatory" but were protected by his "right to freedom of expression."
The district councillor for The Stukeleys firmly denied his comments were "in any way" aimed at the LGBTQ+ community.
