Philip Pullman Returns to the Top of the Charts
Philip Pullman's latest book, The Rose Field, has debuted at the top of the Official UK Top 50, according to NielsenIQ BookData's Total Consumer Market.
Pullman's Northern Lights and Book of Dust trilogies have consistently shown crossover appeal, but The Rose Field has been classified as Science Fiction & Fantasy, marking a departure from the previous instalments in Lyra's Oxford, which were categorized as Children's Fiction or Young Adult Fiction.
This gives Pullman his first adult number one title since 2010's The Good Man Jesus and the Scoundrel Christ.
The book has achieved impressive week one sales of 49,878 copies, although this figure is down 9% from anticipated sales.
