Why Frustrated Boomers Are the Senior Living Industry’s Biggest Potential Disruptors

If they don’t succeed, the boomers may build those models for themselves. Last weekend, an interesting Wall Street Journal article detailed the ways aging boomers are creating their own destinies with regard to housing.

Limited in what they can afford, some boomers in their 60s and 70s are pooling their resources and creating their own senior housing. This concept is not new, as many older Americans have considered senior cohousing for decades.

For example, the 1980s TV show The Golden Girls depicted older women living together under one roof.
