Strong by Form Introduces Ultralight Engineered Wood
Strong by Form has developed a structural floor piece that can span longer distances than existing engineered wood, making it a potential replacement for steel or concrete.
According to the World Green Building Council, the materials and construction required to build structures contribute 11% of global carbon emissions. To address this issue, some places have started experimenting with multistory timber buildings.
“We’re more into hybrid buildings,”
said Andrés Mitnik, co-founder and CEO of Strong by Form, in an interview with TechCrunch. Strong by Form will showcase its innovative product at TechCrunch Disrupt 2025.
The company's ultralight engineered wood is lighter than steel, concrete, and traditional engineered wood, offering a promising solution for reducing carbon debt in building construction.
