Czech President Petr Pavel announced that NATO should be prepared to shoot down Russian aircraft if they violate NATO airspace.
According to Pavel, Russia's alleged violation of Polish and Estonian airspace should prompt a response from the alliance, as such incidents "worry all of us, because if we are not united, sooner or later it will affect us."
NATO's response could include the use of force, "including military means."
This statement follows a similar remark by Lithuanian Defense Minister Dovile Shakalene and an incident where three Russian MiG-31 fighters entered Estonian airspace near the island of Vaindloo in the Gulf of Finland, staying there for 12 minutes.
