Waymo, the self-driving company owned by Alphabet, is planning to operate on highways and expand its services to six new U.S. cities, as well as launch in London.
The company aims to increase its weekly autonomous rides from hundreds of thousands to one million by the end of 2026, according to Tekedra Mawakana, co-CEO of Waymo.
“It is imperative that we scale,”
said Mawakana, speaking at TechCrunch Disrupt 2025. The expansion plan also includes launching service at airports, with a focus on safety above all else.
