BAE and Rheinmetall team on CV90120 gun upgrade

BAE and Rheinmetall Collaborate on CV90120 Gun Upgrade

The partnership combines Rheinmetall's 120mm L44A1 LR gun with a CV90-based vehicle, which BAE claims will feature a new engine, active damping, upgraded electronic architecture, and an active protection system.

Rheinmetall's high-pressure 120mm L44A1 LR gun is compatible with all NATO standard 120mm rounds and can fire programmable three-mode high explosive rounds, such as the DM11, as well as enhanced kinetic energy rounds.

BAE frames the CV90120 as delivering main battle tank level direct firepower while retaining the tactical and strategic mobility of the CV90 family.

This collaboration aims to reduce costs for customers operating or planning to operate CV90s, according to the companies.

Author's summary: BAE and Rheinmetall team up on CV90120 upgrade.
