Curacao Tax Chief Takes Leave Amid Corruption Investigation

Alfonso Trona, the head of Curaçao's Tax Department, has taken a leave of absence to allow authorities to conduct an investigation into allegations of corruption.

The investigation, led by the Criminal Investigation Cooperation Team (RST) and the National Detective Agency (Landsrecherche), follows a recent SOAB report and media findings.

Trona stated that he regrets attempts to damage his reputation and emphasized his honesty and dedication throughout his career, expecting to resume his duties once the investigation concludes.
