FIFA ASEAN Cup Announcement
The FIFA ASEAN Cup was announced during the 47th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur, as part of plans to boost football development in Southeast Asia.
FIFA and ASEAN signed a renewed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), with FIFA President Gianni Infantino and ASEAN Secretary-General Kao Kim Hourn in attendance.
- National teams from all ASEAN member states will participate in the tournament.
- The format is inspired by the 2021 Arab Cup, held under FIFA's umbrella.
The agreement between FIFA and ASEAN will help make a difference in the region through football, said FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
