Macarthur FC have defeated Adelaide for their first victory of the A-League Men season, despite losing a trio of starting midfielders to illness.
The Bulls were without Anthony Caceres, Chris Ikonomidis, and Sime Grzan due to gastro, which they picked up in Vietnam after drawing 1-1 with Cong An Hanoi FC in the ACL Two last Thursday.
Attacking midfielder Liam Rose opened the scoring against Adelaide in the 11th minute, with Jonny Yull hitting back for the Reds before halftime. However, Ji Dong-Won restored the lead in the 64th minute to fire Macarthur to their first win of the season.
The Bulls rose from the bottom of the A-League Men table after beating Adelaide 2-1.
Socceroos coach Tony Popovic watched the match, which saw Macarthur FC claim a 2-1 victory.
