California Governor Gavin Newsom has been hinting at a presidential run for months, and in a recent interview with CBS Sunday Morning's Robert Costa, he made his intentions more official.
"Yeah, I'd be lying otherwise,"
Newsom stated, acknowledging that he is giving "serious thought" to a White House bid. He added,
"I'd just be lying, and I'm not — I can't do that."
However, Newsom emphasized that his decision will depend on the outcome of the 2026 midterms, saying
"Fate will determine that."Despite this, he has been testing the waters in Red States and criticizing Donald Trump, fueling speculation about his potential candidacy.
