Aspinall was facing Gane, hoping to start his title reign on a high note. However, with 25 seconds left in the opening round, he suffered a nasty eye poke, resulting in a no-contest ruling.
"Guys, I just got poked knuckle deep in the eye ball, why are you booing? This is bulls***, the fight was just getting going. I can hardly open my eye."
Gane expressed disappointment with the result, feeling he was doing well in the Octagon.
