Microsoft Accidentally Breaks Windows 10 to Windows 11 Upgrade
Microsoft has inadvertently broken the Windows 11 Media Creation Tool (MCT), a key upgrade path for Windows 10 users, ahead of Windows 10's end-of-life.
As Windows Latest observed, the latest version of the MCT fails to work on Windows 10 PCs when attempting to upgrade to Windows 11. Although workarounds exist, a fix timeline has not been mentioned.
With Windows 10 officially ending support on October 14, 2025, users will no longer receive free security updates or bug fixes, making them more vulnerable to security risks.
After this date, if you are still using Windows 10, you will not get any free security updates or bug fixes. Your PC would still work, but it will be more vulnerable to security risks.
A rush to install Windows 11 is underway, particularly for those who have realized the need to upgrade late, provided their PC supports it.
