Ciryl Gane Breaks Silence After Eye Pokes Stopped Tom Aspinall Fight
Tom Aspinall's heavyweight title fight against Ciryl Gane at UFC 321 was stopped in the first round due to eye pokes, resulting in a no contest.
Gane insisted he did not intentionally poke Aspinall in the eye, saying:
I didn’t do it on purpose. I know what it is to have an eye poke because when I fought Derrick Lewis, I got an eye poke, and I was fighting two Derrick Lewis’s for a full round.
Aspinall was taken to hospital, and UFC CEO Dana White announced a rematch will be ordered.
