Nearly 70% of Colorado hospitals ended 2024 with "unsustainable" margins, according to a report by the Colorado Hospital Association.
Tom Rennell, CHA's senior vice president of financial policy and data analytics, stated that hospitals' expenses are outpacing their revenue due to an increasing number of patients losing insurance coverage, partly because of the post-pandemic Medicaid unwind.
